Review

Wedding Peach falls into the same holes that many magical girl shows do, but still manages to be a fun, solid title. The groundwork of the show is pretty simple, it's basically good versus evil with the angels fighting the devils. It's a monster of the week show, usually with a silly enemy to defeat each episode and Momoko using the same attack to defeat every enemy.

The show moves along in little story arcs, usually centered around a main devil sending out a silly underling that tries to reveal the Love Angels true identities or to get the Saint Something Four from Love Angels or to simply cause hatred among people. Unfortunately, it is very episodic and the story does drag at times. However, the story arcs do help to keep things fresh, as the new devils that are introduced prevent the story from staying in one place for too long and gives the show more variety.

The Love Angels don't have one, but two transformations. Their first one has them wearing wedding dresses which allows Momoko to purify people possessed by the devils. The other two Love Angels are pretty helpless in this form since they don't have any abilities unless they transform again. The angels next transformation is into their battle outfits, giving them more maneuverability and attacks to fight off the devils.

The Love Angels use the same attack each episode, which isn't too surprising as it seems to be the norm for many magical girl shows. The attacks themselves are pretty, however they get old after several episodes because the same animation is used over and over again. Attacks have the characters flying around the screen and posing while saying the name of the attack, which is usually something silly like "Saint Lip Liner! Lily Rainbow!"

Momoko falls in love with one of the boys on the soccer team, which starts out as them teasing each other and gets more serious from there. Their relationship develops as the episodes go by which is pretty cute at times and I enjoyed watching their love grow for each other. Yuri and Hinagiku fall in love with guys, too.

Overall, it's a straightforward, yet enjoyable take on the magical girl genre. It's biggest drawback is its repetitive episodic approach, but if you're a fan of the magical girl genre you will not be disappointed with Wedding Peach.
