Taking place in the year 2010, Seraphim Call is a collection of various stories about eleven different girls who live in the city of Neo.
Review
Seraphim Call is an episodic show that tells some rather strange stories. Still, I found it to be an amusing little show, and, as a guy, I think the attractive girls in each episode help make the show more enjoyable.
In the first episode, a female inventor is asked to come diffuse a bomb, but she doesn't want to because she is terrified of men looking at her. One story is about a spoiled rich girl who protects justice in the city. Another episode is seen completely through the eyes of a stuffed animal, which I thought was quite creative. Episode eleven is about a girl "acting" out her life, but she is the only person in the episode.
There are two episodes that tell the story of twin sisters Shion and Sakura. They receive a love letter in the mail, but strangely the person it was written to was burned making the name unreadable. The first episode about them focuses on Shion and the next episode focuses on Sakura. With the way these two episodes play out, it makes sense to show the other side of the story, however, it comes across feeling redundant because it's the exact same thing all over again, with nearly the entire episode being made up of animation from the previous one.
The animation quality is average, however, the character designs are very attractive and the girls have some unique hair hairstyles. I really like the opening theme and every episode has a different ending song sung by the main character of each episode.
The last episode also plays out awkwardly. It brings all the girls together and has them interacting with one another, but it just ends with nothing really happening. The show offers a mix of episodes that range from average to good, but it doesn't manage to be anything great. Seraphim Call is average anime.
