Summary
Twelve stories of romance and unrequited love. Sentimental Journey is the story of twelve girls that have left love in their past.
Review
Sentimental Journey is twelve episodes long, with each episode focusing on a different girl. It has a relaxed, down-to-earth feel. It suffers from only having one episode to develop each story and its characters, but considering that each story is only one episode long, it manages to tell some decent tales. Although the show deals a lot with love, most of the stories aren't about girls falling in love.
Every episode has some short flashbacks where the main female character will remember her first love. In all of the girl's pasts, the boy they liked transferred to another school. Their memories of their first love affect who they are today. One episode follows the story of Manami Sugihara. She is in the hospital and the results on her recent check-ups don't look good. She starts writing poems again because a boy she once liked complimented her on her poems. In another episode, a perky high school girl is scouted by a man from an producer who made a bet with a coworker that he could turn her into a lady. He teaches her traditional dance, and how to act and speak properly. One of my favorite episodes has a girl disguising herself as her brother to go on a date with another girl. Another good one is a story of two girls who are best friends, but one of them is moving away.
For the most part, the show looks great. It's not a show that calls for great animation, but character movements look fluid and it never looked cheap. The backgrounds are beautiful. They are highly detailed and very realistic. The music is also good.
Overall, Sentimental Journey is a decent show, but it's not for everyone. A majority of the episodes are quite enjoyable, and it's something that I look forward to watching again sometime in the future.

There are a couple bath scenes, but never really shows anything. There is a scene where some girls say that a couple "did it." There is a scene where guys are looking at a magazine with girls in swimsuits and talking about breast size. There is also some hinted lesbianism.
