Review

Panyo Panyo Di Gi Charat is made up of 48 five-minute episodes. Every four episodes have a different theme, with the opening and ending animations separating each of these sections. Episode themes include Dejiko and the gang becoming phantom thieves, playing sports, becoming pirates, and celebrating Christmas. Many of these episodes have the girls doing good deeds or trying to help someone out, except for a few instances like the time when they enter a car race to win a lot of candy for themselves.

Dejiko isn't the selfish and lazy girl she was in the original Di Gi Charat TV series. She's now a much more kind person who goes out of her way to do good things for people, but can still get get a little mad and greedy at times. Within the first few episodes, two new characters join the group. The first one to join is Rinna, who is always tired and enjoys sleeping. The second one is the red-haired tomboy MeeK. Piyoko, who first starred in Leave it to Piyoko!, and another new character, Deji Devil, are present in many of the episodes to cause trouble for Di Gi Charat and her friends. The characters are so cute it's hard not to like them.

With the episodes being only five minutes long, they go by really fast. The stories are simple because there is hardly any time to develop them, but the point here is just to enjoy the cute comedy. They occasionally have some funny endings because they don't turn out how you would expect them to. The stories are amusing and got some chuckles out of me here and there.

The show is super cute looking and uses a lot of bright colors. The characters' super deformed look is adorable because of their oversized heads and big eyes. Furthermore, nearly every character in the show wears hats with cat ears. Like the rest of the show, the opening and ending themes are cute and catchy. Another thing I liked is how the characters will at times sing songs during the episodes.

Panyo Panyo Di Gi Charat is cute fun. I had a good time watching it, but it has little that makes it a standout title. If you're a fan of Di Gi Charat, or like your shows cute, then you will no doubt enjoy this. If not, you aren't missing much.
