Munto 2: Beyond the Walls of Time

Summary

Yumemi's power restored Akuto to the heavens, however, the influx of Akuto caused a war to break out. It's been a year since Yumemi last saw Munto, and it looks like he might need her help once again to keep the Magical Kingdom from defeat.

Review

Now this is how sequels should be done. Munto returns with a bang!

Approximately the first 20 minutes are set in the heavens and it's action packed with several very awesome looking scenes. A lot of the magical powers and fights are jaw-droppingly cool. Just like the original, however, I feel that a lot of the details, including several of the characters roles, aren't explained well enough because of the quick pacing and it leads to a little confusion.

The pacing is slowed down as rest of the show focuses a lot more on Yumemi, who is still constantly looking up at the sky. With the increase of earthquakes and Yumemi's recent visions of Munto, she knows that something isn't right and that Munto will need her power once again. This time, however, she is willing and ready to help him. There is also some good development with the relationship between Yumemi and her friends, especially Ichiko.

If you thought the original had some good animation, this one will knock your socks off. The action scenes look really nice and some of the scenes took my breath away. The backgrounds are very detailed, giving them a beautiful and realistic look. There is some CG here and there which does a good job enhancing the overall experience. Once again, the music is fantastic.

If you liked Munto, you'll love Beyond the Walls of Time. The Munto series thus far has been enjoyable and this follow-up even makes the show feel a little special. It does end on a cliffhanger, though, so hopefully we'll see some more soon. Recommended.

Language
Nothing.

Violence
Quite a bit of fighting, but it's more on the "that looks cool" than violent side.

Sex
Some very short scenes of a few females in skimpy outfits. Plus another very short scene of a naked woman, but everything remains covered. There is also a scene of Yumemi in the bath, and aside from the top view that shows the outline of her body, you can't really see anything because she is underwater.
