Seiji, with his demon right fist, is known for being the best fighter at his school. Because of this many girls are afraid of him and he fears he will never get a girlfriend. But, he wakes up one day to find he has a green-haired girl for a right hand. Her name is Midori, and she has had a secret crush on him for awhile now. Midori's real body is still back at her house, in a deep sleep that she can't come out of.
Review
Midori Days is a fairly unique romantic comedy because of the odd situation Seiji is in. Having a girl for a hand opens the show up for a lot of hilarious situations and it plays with some really fun ideas. Another thing that helps make the show more enjoyable is that Seiji isn't a shy coward like some male leads in anime can be. Midori is actually a shy girl who couldn't ever find it in her to tell Seiji how she feels, but the Midori on Seiji's hand is much more outgoing. She is constantly telling Seiji how much she likes him and even made herself a shirt that reads "I love Seiji" on it. Midori is happy being his right hand because she loves him and it gives her the chance to be with Seiji and learn more about him, but for Seiji it can be inconvenient a lot of the time because he has to constantly hide her when he is in front of other people.
There is another girl, named Takako, in his class who fell in love with him after he saved her from delinquents. She gets quite a bit of attention during the series as she tries to summon up the courage to tell Seiji how she feels. Some of the episodes are filler-ish, but even those have a lot of funny things happening. For example, in one of the episodes, Seiji goes to a doll shop to find clothes for Midori, and one of his classmates recognizes him there. He is a big fan of figures and dolls and becomes very suspicious of Seiji's Midori "doll" and almost finds out his secret. I found most of the show to be really funny and I laughed quite a lot during each episode. Most episodes end with Midori writing about the day in her diary while Seiji is asleep.
Generally speaking, the animation looks good. There are a few flashbacks, but I didn't notice any spots where the animators cut corners and there are a few times where we get to see how Seiji became known as "Mad Dog" Sawamura through some short-but-sweet fight scenes. Fanservice wise, the show does have some nudity, including nipples. However, it isn't overdone and isn't as in-your-face as some other shows tend to be. Personally, I really like the opening and ending themes, even though it is your typical catchy tunes found in a number of shows.
How Midori became Seiji's right hand is never explained, but when the final credits rolled and everything was over I didn't really care. For the most part, the show itself is a real blast and it comes to a satisfying conclusion. Midori Days is an enjoyable romantic comedy series and I have no problem recommending this to fans of the genre.
