Review

Koi Kaze is an interesting show as it is a serious take on one of societies' taboos; siblings falling in love. It's a story about an adult man and his younger sister having feelings for each other. The lifelike characters give the show a realistic feel and it lacks a lot of the humor that is sometimes found in romance series. The characters really grew on me and the further I got into the series the more interesting things became.

Koi Kaze is a well-written, character-driven show that is filled with drama. Koshiro and Nanoka struggle over and question their feelings in the beginning, but the more time they spend with one another the more they realize how strongly they feel. There are a number of scenes that have Koshiro or Nanoka thinking about how they feel or recent events which lets viewer know exactly what they're feeling. I got so absorbed in the show and the characters that I was personally rooting for them to get together. Koi Kaze works with a different theme than the typical romance show, but it belongs up there with the best of them.

The artwork gives the show a homey feel. It has an unique look with soft colors and backgrounds that look like they were done with colored pencils. The animtion is satisfactory and the character designs are attractive with a very distinct look. The music is comprised of mostly gentle, soothing pieces that work well.

I really enjoyed this series, I found it hard to stop watching and each episode left me wanting more. I wasn't sure if the creators could pull it off and I feared a copout near the end, however, the show turned out better than I thought it would and the ending is solid. It's a moving tale of two lovers who know what they feel is wrong, yet can't help responding to how passionately they feel about each other. It's probably not for everyone, but Koi Kaze manages to be both interesting and entertaining, and I highly recommend giving it a try.
