Idol Project
Summary
Yuri is the most popular idol ever and became president and is now retiring. Six "Excellent Idols" were chosen to compete to become the next president. They are taken to another world, the Tropical Dimension, and compete in many different ways. Mimu is just a normal high school girl but wants nothing more than to be like Yuri, and is taken to the Tropical Dimension with the other six Excellent Idols to compete!
Review
Idol Project is a very silly light-hearted show. The story is very wacky. Every idol in the galaxy wants to become the next Yuri and sing in Crystal Hall. Even girls from other planets want to be like Yuri. Also, the animators took every chance they could to squeeze in all the fanservice humanly possible. And with all the cute girls, I'm not complaining.
Idol Project has almost nothing in the way of character development and doesn't really fit in any certain genre except comedy. There aren't too many jokes, just a lot of funny and crazy things happen, like alien jelly fish "saving" the idols from drowning by sticking to their bodies or giant robots blowing Mimu's skirt up. Words alone can't quite describe how weird the events that occur in this anime really are.
Idol Project has an awesome opening song and a few different ending songs, and I enjoyed them all very much. There are a lot of good vocal songs played during the anime, however some were so softly played that I didn't notice them until after I got the soundtrack and went back to listen to them. The animation is very good; it feels as if something is always moving and the animation is quite fluid for the most part. I like the cute character designs.
I'm not really sure why I like Idol Project exactly. It might be the wackiness of it all or maybe it's all the cute girls, awesome songs and overloaded fanservice that wins me over. Something about this show I find enjoyable and fun to watch.
