Operation Phantom Flame has come to an end and has been hailed as a complete success. Now, the Imperial forces have embarked on a new plan, codenamed Operation Hunter. Their task: to hunt down and destroy any remaining enemy forces.
The abh have captured Lobnas II, a planet full of prisoners that was recently under the control of the United Mankind. Lafiel's new title is Territorial Ambassador and it's her job to shift control of the planet to the Abh Empire. Lafiel doesn't like the job so Jinto decides to become her deputy ambassador and handle it for her.
Review
The Administration Director and the gaurds wish to emigrate to another planet in fear of the prisoners mounting a rebellion. The female prisoners also wish to emigrate because they fear that the men will just use them for bearing their children. When the Administration Director agrees to allow the women to leave the planet, the male prisoners rebel and attempt to take control.
Like the first two seasons, the plot is packed with details and there is a lot taking place. I love the way the show ties some current events to previous ones. I thought the story for this season was quite interesting, however, I would have liked more interaction between Jinto and Lafiel, but they remain apart for a lot of this series. Lafiel stays in orbit while Jinto stays on Lobnas II in her place to help the emigration move along smoothly. Them being seperated is actually a big part of the story though, and I feel it came to a good conclusion.
Overall, the animation is decent. There are times where it looks quite good and others where it looks average. This series has better looking CG ships than the other two and it uses CG more often as well. Personally, I prefer traditional animation over the use of 3D CG, but it does look good. The opening theme is the same awesome song as the first two series and "Farewell to My Love" is a really beautiful ending theme song.
There is still lots of room for the story to be continued from here, but I think Banner of the Stars II brings the series full circle with a a good ending. Crest of the Stars and the two Banner of the Stars sequels offer some very good writing and story telling in a very detailed universe filled with an endearing cast. Banner of the Stars II is the weakest entry into the series thus far, but still totally worth it.

Nothing Offensive.
Violence
A couple scenes of people getting brutally shot as well as some gunfights.
Sex
The women on planet Lobnas II are usually dressed in somewhat skimpy outfits that reveal cleavage. There is also a scene of Ekuryua sleeping in her lingerie.
