Aquarian Age
Summary
Kyouta is apart of a band which is starting to take off as they are getting popular and are offered a real chance into the industry. Kyouta also begins to see weird visions of people with powers and he suddenly finds himself involved in the middle of a war between factions with supernatural powers.
Review
Aquarian Age is slowly paced, the main character doesn't even learn about his power until halfway through the series. Thankfully the characters are interesting enough that this isn't a problem. The show spends a lot of time developing them and showing them interact as the plot slowly progresses.
There are two factions that want Yoriko to join them. She has been apart of the Arayashiki faction for awhile now, which would make her become Benzaiten. But events in her life and her recent distance from Kyouta are making her consider joining the Darklore faction. If she does, she will become Serasvati.
Having five different factions and several characters from each of them means that the cast is quite large. However, a couple of the factions aren't too involved with the story. There is a lot of attention given to Kota's band and them trying to make it in the music world. Kyouta and Yoriko get a number of scenes involving their relationship, which is one of the main aspects of the series. A majority of the characters in the different factions are girls and while there isn't really any fanservice, it's pretty obvious who the target audience is.
One of the highlights of the show is the fantastic music, and I'm not just talking about the opening and two ending themes, as nice as they are. As for how the show looks, it has some attractive artwork and the animation is adequate for a television series. There is a little bit of action and what there is looks pretty good. Characters are often represented as colored lines when using their powers and moving around quickly.
Despite it's pacing, I found it entertaining the whole way through. Aquarian Age is a solid series and recommended for those who like their anime more character driven.
